Gambling awareness

Poster with words 'gamble aware'

Unlike alcohol and substance misuse, gambling harm can remain hidden for a long time. There are no initial physical signs and many people experiencing difficulties continue to perform well at work- until financial, emotional and psychological impact becomes overwhelming.

In the UK, gambling is highly accessible through apps, online casinos, sports betting, and advertising during major events such as premier league and even family programmes. What starts as occasional betting can, for some develop into compulsive behaviour that is difficult to control.
Gambling addiction can affect anyone, regardless of age, income or background and many people that struggle with it often do not seek help early, due to stigma.
